Our Backsplash Process in Cromwell

Measure, prep, set, grout, clean — what happens on each visit and what we ask of you.

Licensed & insured Free written estimates Most jobs 1–2 days Small jobs welcome

Step 1 — Free measure & fixed price

We visit, measure the runs, count outlets, check the wall with a straightedge, talk tile, and hand you a written number. No obligation. Cromwell has a substantial band of two-career households doing one focused upgrade a year. The backsplash is frequently that year's project because it finishes in a day or two.

Step 2 — Demo & prep (the important day)

Counters masked, dust contained, old splash off if there is one. Then the wall gets what it needs: patching, floating, skimming, priming. Prep is most of a good result and nearly all of a bad one's absence.

Step 3 — Set the tile

Layout snapped on the wall, courses kept level, outlets and windows cut tight. You will see the wall take shape in hours.

Step 4 — Grout, seal, clean, walk through

Grout, sealer where specified, flexible caulk at counters and corners, full cleanup. Then we walk the wall together — sight the lines, check the plates — before we leave.

Your part: clear the counters the morning we arrive, keep pets out of the kitchen during setting, and hold off soaking fresh grout for 24 hours. That is the whole list.

FAQ

Process questions

[01]
Do you remove the old backsplash?

Yes — careful removal, wall repair and haul-away are quoted up front as part of the job, not discovered halfway through.

[02]
How messy is the work?

Demo day makes dust, which we contain with barriers and clean between phases. Setting and grouting are quiet, low-dust hand work.

[03]
How long does a backsplash take?

A standard kitchen is two days — setting day, then grout day. Small baths often finish in one day. Full-height walls and tear-out replacements run two to four days.

[04]
Which towns do you serve?

Cromwell is the core — every neighborhood — plus the central Connecticut towns around it. If you are nearby and unsure, call (860) 990-2332 and ask.

The Cromwell picture

The Cromwell picture: Cromwell's competition is mostly general remodeling contractors who subcontract the tile. Specialization is the differentiator, plus the willingness to take a job that is only one wall. Cromwell has a substantial band of two-career households doing one focused upgrade a year. The backsplash is frequently that year's project because it finishes in a day or two.
